Earth Day 2017
I hope everyone embraces this day as a day to reflect on just how each of us can help save the environment. This time of year we set our sights on outdoor "fun in the sun" warm activities. My focus is golf and the beach. I also hope to do some practical PV applications for apartment dwellers and possibly some small contractor applications. I also had an idea for a solar cooker/oven I hope to build and test. State parks are having clean-up tasks today, so if you have the time, please help out. It's a great way to start the season.Point beach in Two Rivers, Wi.

What is happening in Japan?
Have you seen the recent post on the Japan nuclear power plant that was damaged in the earthquake and tidal wave thereafter? This seems like a serious environmental issue that may spill far beyond their boarders. Japan nuclear power plant It seems incredible that even robots can not enter this place.

World Whale Day
World Whale Day is February 18th and is celebrated in Maui, Hawaii. If you can't get to Maui, you can still support the non-profit programs of the Pacific Whale Foundation by checking out their on-line auction. https://worldwhaleday.org/world-whale-day. Whales are an awesome sight to see if you have the opportunity. Hopefully they will still be around for our children to experience the thrill of watching these massive beasts move so gracefully.Pacific Whale Foundation

Poaching in China
With National Bird Day just a few days away, there has been a recent development in China that shows many animal species are in danger and some have no clue to what they are doing to our ecosystem. They only see dollar signs! I commend China on being involved in protecting these animals and hopefully these poachers will pay a very high price for their folly. With over 12% of bird species endangered, I hope those who engage in this type of activity are also caught and face severe consequences. http://www.environews.tv/world-news/biggest-poached-pangolin-parts-bust-history-goes-shanghai-china/
